Final Sneak Peek!

Monday is a big day for Bride's Butler!

We're celebrating our 5th Anniversary by launching our new website and blog with showcasing our re-brand. You'll notice a new color palette, a fancy new logo and three new service packages.

I'm so excited to be celebrating such a milestone! I'll never forget my good friend and fellow vendor Christine of Designs by Law tell me in my 1st year; "if you can make it to your 5th year, you're golden." And we have!

Being able to assist couples on their wedding day as brought so much joy to us, and we can't wait to see how we will continue to grow and succeed with the re-brand!

I will post about the re-branding process complete with photos as the weeks unfold.

Thank you to everyone that has supported Bride's Butler over the past 5 years!

Happy New Year!

It's 2013!!

Where has the time gone?! If you've been planning a wedding that's to take place this year, you'll know what I mean about time flying by - there just never seems to be enough of it!

2012 was a fabulous year for The Bride's Butler. We executed 9 weddings, had a few mentions and articles in The Hamilton Spectator, won the Diamond Readers Choice Award for Best Wedding Planner in Hamilton and had TWO of our Day of Coordination weddings featured in the Hamilton Halton Weddings Magazine!

Each year I get to meet new vendors, as well as work with some old favourites. I'd like to thank a few of them for their continued support, assistance and wonderful service in 2012.

Congratulations Brooke & Richard!

After assisting Brooke & Richard  in planning their wedding in just a week shy of a year, it was so awesome to have seen it all come together fabulously on the 29th of September. Tying the knot on a beautiful fall day, these two love birds were surrounded by family and friends and had a fabulous party!

Going with a rustic chic theme, we incorporated twine, homemade wooden boxes for the centrepieces, hydrangeas, kale, mason jars, lanterns, twine and crates. Using the love bird theme to bring it all together, you could spot them ontop their cake, on the menus, gift table, bunting and even with the favour as they were heart shaped birdseed ornaments.

Here are some photos from Brooke & Richard's wedding day....

Looking back on Angie & Serge's day

Signing the registry - they're married!

In May, we executed Full Wedding Planning services for Angie & Serge. Lovingly referred to as "the Brady Bunch" by family and friends, this outdoor backyard wedding was one so full of love that it was palpable.
During their wedding ceremony, I actually had tears running down my cheeks.

Angie and Serge met and instantly fell in love. Every Sunday he brings her flowers. She believes that their love is one of fairy tales, so that was the underlying theme for the wedding. Cupcake Diner provided the mini cake, cupcakes and the favour cookies shown.

The ceremony took place on their property with the reception being housed in a tent provided by Special Event Rentals. Christine of Designs by Law made the tables beautiful with illuminated centrepieces and Gary from Ted's Tunes kept the crowd on their feet all night. It was a pleasure to have worked with vendors that I know and trust, and helped bring the fairy tale vision to life for Angie and Serge.

These newlyweds are a fabulous match brought together later in life to form a beautiful family. All of the kids like each other, get along and treat each other with respect. They are more than step-siblings, they are friends. It was an honour to have been a part of their special day and to witness the love and share in the joy with their family and friends. Congratulations, and thank you!

Lisa & Grant's July Wedding

Weddings, like romance, are all about the little things.

Adding details and touches of personality to your wedding day is very important. All weddings, like all couples - are different. Lisa & Grant brought their lives, personalities and small details together beautifully for their July wedding.

These newlyweds love to go camping - so it was only right that each table was named after a Provincial Park. Instead of a table number, they displayed a photo of them in front of the sign of a park they visited or camped at. Instead of guests scanning a board or rows of escort cards, their names were presented in pots with the park brochure. When the guest got to their camp site (a.k.a table) they found their name printed on a place card against a hand-made Muskoka chair.
Since it was a hot July day, and the ceremony was outdoors, Lisa had mini water bottles on hand for her guests. Each bottle had a label with her and Grant's initials and oh-so-adorable Celebration Facts.

Their initial monogram carried out throughout their wedding details - which is perfect as consistency is key! The monogram was on the handmade ceremony programs (tied together to form a fan for the summer heat), their menu cards and their cake.

Incorporating your personality and hobbies into your special day is a great way to stay away from being 'cookie-cutter'. Another great way to be different is to incorporate family in a unique way. Lisa asked her florist, Christine from Designs by Law to recreate her Grandmothers wedding bouquet with a modern twist.
When I heard this detail, I thought that it was such an adoring way to include her Grandma into her special day.

Lisa and Grant had a fabulous wedding with beautiful weather, fabulous guests, delicious food and lot's of love! All of their hard work planning, making and incorporating all the fine details paid off!

Congratulations again to Lisa & Grant. We were so honoured to be a part of your special day!

Friendor Spotlight

Designs by Law: Christine Law

Did you know that bridal bouquets were originally meant to ward off evil spirits? Now bouquets are a popular item for Brides & bridesmaids to add femininity, elegance and colour.

We interviewed Christine, a Friendor of ours who owns Designs by Law. She works together with Brides to create beautiful bouquets, boutonnieres and floral arrangements for their wedding. We're pleased to recommend our clients to Christine for her friendly, affordable and professional service.

How did Designs by Law come to be?
Designs by Law came to be in 2001 after the birth of my middle child. My parents have greenhouses, and my mom gave me the idea to grow fall mums on their farm, and I sold them at a local market. While at the market, I sold cut flowers too. Someone approached me to ask if I did arrangements, I said yes and really enjoyed it! In 2004 I started design courses, and what started out as 1 wedding a year, turned into 8 , into 20, into 30... and now, I do approximately 50 - 60 a year!

What is your favourite type of bouquet or arrangement to make?
I love to do bridal bouquets, and make them personalized for the Bride and the theme/style of the wedding.

What is the trend for flowers/bouquets for 2011?
Continuing on from 2010 are the hand tied bouquets. I only get a few requests for cascade/arm bouquets. Much like last year, purple is the most popular colour, as well as white (as always).

When should a couple book your services for their wedding?
I prefer to have a few months (4-6) notice. I have done weddings a few weeks in advance, but it can be tricky if you need unique/out of season flowers that aren't readily available. The more time in advance, the better.

Do you have any specials right now that you’d like to feature?
Sure I do, it's my most popular package! It consists of:
Bridal Bouquet (roses only)
3 Bridesmaids bouquets (smaller version of Bride's)
Groom's boutonniere
3 Groomsmen boutonnieres
A toss bouquet
2 Mother corsages (wrist or pin)
2 Father boutonnieres
With delivery to one location (within servicing area) for $399.00 plus taxes.

That's a fabulous deal! What if the couple has more than 3 Bridemaids?
Each additional bouquet is $75.

How does it make you feel to know a couple is working with a Coordinator?
I think working with a Coordiantor keeps a bride on track, less stress and worry. It's nice to know as a Florist, that there will be someone at the venue to give direction, input and extra help.

Do you have a success story you’d like to share?
One time a hall refused to put out the cupcakes, so since I was there dropping off flowers, I spent an extra 1/2 hour setting them up for the couple. I don't think they ever knew that I did that for them, and I didn't tell them.
If that couple had hired us, we surely would have done it and saved you the 1/2 hour Christine!

When choosing your Florist, be sure to ask questions about the type of flower you want. How do they stand up to heat, wind, cold? How long will they last out of water? Your florist is there to help you create your wedding bouquets and arrangements.
